MEL VATZ: Since 1979, I have been defending individuals charged with crimes. I started practicing criminal law after first being exposed to working in a criminal defense clinic in law school. What I found was that I enjoyed working with everyday people.
There is a misconception that people who are charged with crimes are bad people. Most of the people charged with crimes are just everyday working people who run into a problem. And they need help. These people have families. These people have jobs. Getting charged with a crime has an impact on not only the person charged with a crime but their families and the people they work with.
My philosophy in criminal law is to treat every person as an individual. Just because you've been charged with a crime doesn't make you a bad person. I want to work with you to find out what defenses you have to this case, to find out why you've been charged with this crime, if you're wrongly accused to fight that as hard as possible, and to work out the best possible resolution of this case for you that we can.
