Workers' Compensation Benefits

Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Benefits Attorneys

Understanding workers' compensation benefits is important for workers who have been injured on the job and need benefits to pay for resulting medical bills and lost wages. When you have been injured at work, you have a right to have your medical bills paid, and to receive payment for your lost wages. There are specific time limitations for notifying you whether or not your claim has been accepted or denied. It is also important for you to immediately notify your employer of an injury at work, because a delay in reporting can limit your ability to receive your workers’ compensation benefits.

At the Pittsburgh law firm of Grossinger Gordon Vatz, LLP, our lawyers have provided injured workers with guidance and representation for more than 30 years. Like employers and insurance carriers, we thoroughly understand workers' compensation laws and use our knowledge and experience to assert and protect our clients' right to benefits. We can provide an honest assessment of your individual situation and help you make responsible choices that will benefit you now and in the future.

Available Benefits Under Workers' Compensation Laws

Under the Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Act, workers who are injured on the job may be eligible for benefits based on:

  • Medical expenses and treatment:
Your employer will provide medical treatment benefits to pay for prescription drugs, hospital stays, visits to physicians and clinics, and medical equipment. Employers may provide a list of at least 6 health care providers that you can choose from and must see for the first 90 days after an injury. However, an employer can’t tell you that you must see a particular doctor. IF YOUR EMPLOYER TELLS YOU THAT YOU MUST SEE THE “COMPANY DOCTOR,” CALL US!
  • Lost wages:
If you are unable to work or are unable to return to a job at the same income level as you earned prior to the injury, you are entitled to “temporary total disability” or “partial disability” for your lost wages.
  • Specific loss benefits:
If your workplace injury has resulted in permanent injuries that resulted in the loss of hands, fingers, limbs, sight, hearing or other bodily parts or functions, you may be able to receive specific loss benefits.
  • Death benefits:
In the case of a fatal workplace injury, the family members of the victim may be able to receive death benefits through the workers' compensation process.

Pursuing all the benefits to which you are entitled can be a complex process, and several factors can influence the amount of benefit payments. At GGV Law, our attorneys have represented injured workers for over 30 years. We litigate workers’ compensation claims throughout Western Pennsylvania. Count on us to protect your rights when you are injured at work.
